Biographical Information:

Jeffery O. Monroe was appointed to the superior court bench by Governor Brian Kemp on May 30, 2019. He was sworn-in on July 10, 2019 to serve the Macon Judicial Circuit, which is made up of Bibb, Crawford and Peach counties. Prior to coming to superior court, Judge Monroe served as judge on the State Court of Bibb County after being appointed in August of 2017 by Governor Nathan Deal.

A native of Hancock County, Judge Monroe graduated from the University of Georgia in 1996 and from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2000. He was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society as an undergraduate. Before coming to the bench, he was a partner in the law firm of Jones Cork, LLP in Macon and practiced in the areas of education law, insurance and self-insurer defense and drafting municipal ordinances and regulations. Prior to joining Jones Cork, Judge Monroe was an associate with the law firm of Anderson, Walker & Reichert, LLP.
Judge Monroe is dedicated to the betterment of the legal community. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Macon Bar Association. He is a past president of the Macon Bar Association and is also a past member of the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Georgia and the State Bar’s Disciplinary Review Panel.

Judge Monroe has supported his local community through his involvement as past Vice-Chair of the Macon-Bibb Land Bank Authority. He worked to combine the City of Macon and Bibb County and consolidated their respective laws into one code of ordinances as Chairman of the Laws Committee of the Macon-Bibb County Consolidation Transition Task Force. He also serves as a deacon of the Second Darien Missionary Baptist Church of Sparta, Georgia.
Judge Monroe has been recognized as a leader in his community by the Georgia Trend Magazine’s 40 Under 40 (2006), Macon Magazine’s 5 Under 40 (2004), and Daily Report’s Rising Legal Stars Under 40 (2013). He was also recognized as the 2016 Lawyer of the Year by the Macon Bar Association. He and his wife Sheila have two sons; Jeffery, Jr. and Culver.
